This Privacy Policy explains how FinBeaver ("the App", "we", "us") handles your information. FinBeaver is a personal finance management application for Mac. We designed it to be private by default: your financial data stays on your own Mac and in your own Apple iCloud account.
You may enter or import financial information such as accounts, transactions, budgets, categories, and related notes. This information is stored on your Mac using Apple's Core Data. After you subscribe, it is backed up to your private iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit. This data is under your control and is not transmitted to us.
On supported Macs, FinBeaver can generate summaries of your finances using Apple's on-device Foundation Models framework (Apple Intelligence). This processing happens locally on your Mac. Your financial data is not sent to us or to any third party to produce these summaries.
FinBeaver offers auto-renewable subscriptions. Purchases are processed by Apple through your App Store account. We do not receive or store your payment card details. Apple provides us with aggregated, non-identifying sales and subscription information. Apple's handling of your data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
After you subscribe and choose how to start (keeping your current data or creating fresh data), FinBeaver backs up your data to the private database of your own iCloud account. The backup lets you restore your data after reinstalling the App or on a new Mac signed in to the same Apple Account. It is stored and protected by Apple under your Apple Account; we do not have access to its contents. In this version iCloud is used for backup only, not for syncing between devices.
If you email us for support, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include in your message. We use it only to respond to you. If you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in your Mac's settings, Apple may provide us with anonymous crash reports, which we use only to fix problems in the App.
Because your data lives on your Mac and in your iCloud account, you control it. Your data is kept only for as long as you choose to keep it. You can delete FinBeaver's local data from your Mac at any time, and you can delete its iCloud backup by managing your iCloud storage in System Settings, where the backup is listed as "financemanager". If you need help removing your data, contact us. Any support emails you send us are kept only as long as needed to help you.
FinBeaver is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
Because your data remains on your Mac and in your iCloud account, it is stored according to Apple's infrastructure and your device location, not on servers operated by us.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
